Genius 22 - We'll Take Revenge
District Preliminaries - Eiji is confused about the Ah-Un strategy Momoshiro mentioned and it seems Inui has no idea as well. Ryoma and Momo begin to warm themselves up for the set. The match starts and it's Gyokurin's service play. Both teams shows their spirit by cheering as loud as they could.
It's Izumi's serve and he mentions that he'll make them regret they even came. He uses the slice serve but Ryoma is able to return the ball with a cross court shot. Izumi thinks to himself that Momo and Ryoma cannot cooperate with each other and aims towards the middle. Fukawa figures Momo and Ryoma are just going to look at each other like they did before but Momo shouts out "AH" while Ryoma shouts out "UN". Everyone is confused about what they were doing but Momo returns the ball to win the point (0-15).
The day before Momo and Ryoma were reading the doubles beginner book Ryoma bought and Momo shows Ryoma the page that mentions that when the ball is headed towards the middle, the forehand player is the one that showed get it. Ryoma says that even if it's his backhand he wants to hit it but Momo tells him that he wants to as well but that's not the way to play doubles. Ryoma starts to confuse Momo by mentioning his left hand and they decide they needed a signal to tell who will hit the ball. They see two statues and decide to use Ah-Un as the signal.
Ryoma aims the balls down the middle with a slice to win another point (0-40). The 1st years are glad that they're cooperating well but thinks it's embarressing the way they are doing it. Izumi and Fukawa are trying to find their other weaknesses since they already conquered the middle. Momo performs an overhead smash towards Izumi but he manages to return the ball with a lob over Momo's head. Ryoma runs across to hit the ball but since they are now on only one side of the court, Fukawa is able to aim his shot to the other side since all Momo and Ryoma learn was how to conquer the middle. He volleys the ball at an angle and both Ryoma and Momo rush towards it, clashing each other (15-40). Fukawa is amazed with their quick footwork, even though they weren't able to return it. Izumi starts to serve again and Fukawa gives off a signal by sticking out two fingers behind him. Izumi uses a weak serve and when Ryoma is about to return it, they noticed that both Izumi and Fukawa are at using a double approach at the net. When Ryoma returns the ball, Fukawa volleys it for an easy point (30-40).
They mention that in order to win at doubles, you need teamwork. The teams starts cheering again to give their players some support. Eiji and Oishi realizes that Gyokurin's #1 doubles pair was stronger than they expected.
Afterwards, Ryoma's beginners book falls out of his bag.
End.
