Genius 10: A Contest of Wills
Seigaku Jr. High - Kaidou has met his match as Ryoma won the game with his technique of hitting the ball towards Kaidou's feet so he would lose more stamina than usual(Ryoma-5, Kaidou-4). Both players have already lost more than half of their energy but Kaidou doesn't want to give up. Ryoma tells Kaidou that his snake technique should be the "buggy whip shot".
Ryoma blows everyone away by performing the snake technique himself. He tells Kaidou that he had read an article that described the snake's technique. And after Kaidou actually used it against Ryoma, he was able to perform it himself. But without much reach his shot was as good as Kaidou's. Inui describes how the buggy whip shot is performed and that it is used by professionals such as Sampras and Hingeise. Kaidou's snake is derived from the buggy whip shot and it's not something that you can learn in a short period of time. The set ends with Ryoma as the victor once again (Ryoma-6, Kaidou-4).
Kaidou is so disappointed with his defeat that he slams hit racket against his knee. Ryoma tries the shake Kaidou's hand but he storms out of the court. Kaidou mentions to Inui that he will never give up his spot on Seigaku's regular team. All the 2nd and 3rd years we impressed that Ryoma, a 1st year, was able to beat a Seigaku regular.
The first day of the ranking tournament has ended and the regulars from block A-C has been able to raise their ranks. It is unsure who will become a regular from Block D. Ryoma has won all 3 of his matches. Kaidou has won 2, but lost 1. Inui has won 2 and has 3 matches remaining.
End.
