Seigaku vs. Jyousei Shounan

Kikumaru/Oishi vs. Kiriyama Daichi/Oota Kakeru

Oota starts the game by serving, which Kikumaru easily returns.  Kiriyama at the net counters.  Kikumaru doing acrobatic play crosses the ball.  Kiryama with his coordination tennis catches up to the ball and returns.  Oishi receives the ball and plans to return it to the right corner, but Kiriyama moves in his way and returns the ball gaining the point.  (15-0).   Oota serves again, while Kiriyama moves to the net.  Oishi returns with a lob to prevent Kiryama from attacking, but Kiriyama jumps up and returns.  Kikumaru returns his shot between Kiriyama’s legs.  Oota from behind Kiriyama returns the shot between Kiriyama’s legs.  Oishi returns, but Kiriyama returns with his Canon Volley for the point (30-0).  Oota serves again and Kikumaru lobs higher.  Oota runs onto Kiriyama’s back, smashes the ball, and flips and lands back onto the court winning another point (40-0).  It turns out the move is called the Thunderbolt.  Oota serves again with Oishi receiving.  Kiriyama returns Oishi’s shot.  Kikumaru counter Kiriyama’s shot, but misses his sweet spot when lobbing.  Oota does another “Thunderbolt” to win another winning the first game (1-0).

 

Kikumaru serves with Oota returning his serve.  Oishi counters with a lob, but Oota does another “Thunderbolt.”  Later Kiriyama boosts Oota by his feet and throws him, which Oota uses the extra momentum to score another point.  The game progresses and it’s Kiriyama’s turn to serve.  He serves and later smashes the return shot.  More shots are scored against Seigaku until Jyousei wins a second game (2-0).  The game continues with Jyousei winning another game (3-0).  The injury in Oishi’s wrist is starting to show in his play.  Oishi serves with the score (0-15).  He changes his strategy and serves a slow underhand.  Kiriyama returns the shot, but it lands outside the court (15-15).  Oota moves up when he sees Oishi do another underserve.  Oishi notices this and does a spin serve making the ball drop suddenly and bounce up that Oota can’t reach (30-15).  Oishi serves again with another slow underhand serve.  Kiriyama returns the ball out again (40-15).   Oota thinks that Oishi will do another spin serve and moves back in preparation, but Oishi serves a low underhand putting the game at (3-1 with Jyousei winning).

 

The game progresses with the score at 4-2 Jyousei leading.  Kiriyama serves with Kikumaru returning.  The two teams continue to rally until Kiriyama does a Canon Volley, which forces Oishi to return lob allowing Oota to do a Thunderbolt putting the game at 5-2.  The Golden Pair start the next serve with a new formation called the “I-formation.”  I formation looks like the Australian Formation, but Kikumaru is at the centerline crouched lower than the net and Oishi I positioned in the center behind the baseline.  Oishi serves.  Kiriyama is confused by the formation and hits to the right, which Kikumaru returns in the middle of the opponents’ court.  Kikumaru in the center position is able to return the ball more easily to the middle of the opposing court putting the score at 40-15.  In the next play, Oota hits the ball beyond Kikumaru’s reach, which makes Oota and Kiriyama think they can move up for the attack.  However, it is a feint and Oishi jumps up from behind Kikumaru and smashes the ball down the middle winning the game (5-3 Jyousei).

 

Just before Jyousei’s serve, Oishi has a spasm in his wrist and drops his racquet.  Jyousei notices that he’s injured and decide to target Oishi.  Oota serves this game.  Kikumaru quickly realizes they are targeting Oishi and tries to relieve him from several shots, but the Golden Pair lose the point.  The two teams continue to rally with Oishi still Jyousei’s target.  The injury in Oishi’s wrist gets progressively worse that he drops his racquet when returning a shot (30-0).  Kikumaru takes up the attacks with Oishi on defense.  The two teams rally again.  Jyousei tries to target Oishi in the back, but Kikumaru comes from behind Oishi to get the point.  Seigaku catches with this new strategy (6-5 Seigaku leading).  Kikumaru signals from behind his back a play for Oishi to do.  Oishi does a Moon Volley as a return.  Jyousei tries to do a Thunderbolt, but it’s out of Oota’s reach.  Seigaku wins 7-5.  Winner:  Seigaku
